MEP Labs was founded by a trio from University of Washington, Department of Bioengineering who collaborated on low-cost diagnostics for low resource settings.
Paula holds a B.S. in Business from Indiana University, as well as a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Indiana University School of Medicine. She has extensive experience in developing amplification strategies to target genomic regions with complex trinucleotide repeat regions. More recently, she developed sample collection and preparation technologies, as well as reagents for dry storage of mammalian tissue. Paula previously was co-founder and CSO for SNPgenomics, a Seattle-based company that developed diagnostic tests for repeat expansion disorders such as Huntington’s Disease and Fragile-X Syndrome. In her spare time she enjoys running with her son and gardening.
